Questions & Answers

1) I’ve read what you’ve described as a Gath3r project. If old people or if you skim read it, it doesn’t seem like to give clear and easy way of understanding the project. Could you explain briefly within one or two sentences so that people who are unfamiliar of this platform?

Gath3r allows website and application owners earn money without showing disturbing ads. This is an alternate way for web monetization without placing ads/banners which is achieved via cryptocurrency mining by using visitors’ resources with visitors’ consent.

2) “Netflix, for example. As Amazon Prime adopts Gath3r, Owners can turn traffic into good profits. Exactly what token is paid and how much will it give to the owner? (e.g. percentage)”

Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming platforms would provide a huge amount of computing/hash power that would be utilized by providing that to child chains for merge mining or enterprises for CPaaS by Gath3r. In return Netflix/Amazon prime would receive GTH tokens from the block rewards, which can be sold to Fiat using one of our third party integrations, or USD depending on the specific circumstance and also receive 70% of the profits from the merge mining/CPaaS revenue.

5) Can you tell me the advantage of Gath3r coin over other advertising coins?

-Gath3r stands out to its competitors in many ways. First and foremost, Gath3r is totally oriented to change the way of web monetization, letting website and app owners earn money with or without using ads, so this is a new perspective, a new game.
-Not just that Masternodes support and merged mining are completely unique compared to its competitors, also they are fully transparent and let users choose if they want to support web mining during browsing.
-The security factor through Auxiliary chain support is striking, as many other web mining solutions have been victims to cryptojacking.
-Lowering compute costs with CPaaS (Compute Power as a Service), compared to competition, it provides a unique offer by redistributing the compute power generated from website and app owners to businesses.

6) An investor-protection policy or Is there a compensation policy for holders or steaks?

There is no specific investor protection policy, but Gath3r has a revenue generating model unlike most other crypto projects and token buybacks will occur at regular intervals after token listing. The tokens will be purchased from exchanges with Gath3r’s revenue.

2. Gath3r wants to onboard thousands of publishers in the long run, 25+ child chains which can benefit from Gath3r’s network and many B2B enterprise partners for CPaaS (Compute Power as a Service) solution. There are already established partners in the ecosystem and we want to continue onboarding more and more as part of our routine business development activities.

8) It’s a very global project, where do you plan to set up additional branch offices in the future?

Our headquarters would be in Dubai UAE, while we would have a technical center in India. But as a blockchain company allot of the team would be decentralized. There are considerations for branch offices in other jurisdictions as well

9) Do you have a structure that can be equally profitable for both businesses and users?

Yes, website & app owners benefit from merged mining. If they choose to apply, they can set loyalty programs so their visitors can earn as well. Business can make further profits by lowering their compute costs via CPaaS, where network power of publishers is utilized.

10) The purpose of the Gath3r is well understood. But I don’t understand how we’re turning our existing traffic into revenue. I’d appreciate it if you could explain it to the public more easily.

Simply by hosting Gath3r’s code on your website or app for free, you can start earning money using your visitors’ resources based on their consent. Your visitors’ resources will be used to mine GTH and with merged mining, other child chains/relevant coins. You can stake the earned coins through webwallet or can have your earnings in Gath3r, in your local currency or in bitcoin through Gath3r’s paywall.

11) Gath3r was launched in May at Coinil Launchpad, and we are wondering if you have a successful result, and if you have any further plans to get listed in different exchanges.

The sale was not completed fully, so we refunded everyone who participated and went back to work on the project behind the scenes. There are plans to get listed on 2-3 exchanges (with real volume) by listing date, and increase exchanges even more over time.

12) The Gath3r project has formed a partnership with the Finple platform to develop a blockchain web and issue mining-based cryptocurrency, and we want to know how the partnership synergies can be achieved.

Having Gath3r’s proof-of-work (POW) capability within the FINPLE ecosystem will benefit all the other Dapps connected to the platform.

13) Gath3r says it provides and leverages Turn-Key solutions that can be easily integrated by developers around the world, can you please describe Turn-Key in simpler sentence so we all can understand it clearly thanks

Gath3r will provide companies with a one-stop shop for all related crypto issuance needs, this includes chain launch, development, and mining. In the meantime, Gath3r foundation will be acting as a governing body for Gath3r, awarding grants to developers / projects building on the GTH chain.

14) Is there a specific marketing strategy that can appeal to people that are unfamiliar with blockchain?

Yes, there is definitely a strategy for the people unfamiliar with blockchain. In fact, people do not have to know the underlying technology to adapt and use Gath3r’s solution. They can simply add Gath3r’s code to their websites and start earning alternate revenue in their local currencies (as well as in GTH or in bitcoin). Therefore, we target people/businesses that are publishers and already have an income with traditional digital ads, not only the ones with an understanding of blockchain.

15) I think it’s important to collect more Publishers than anything else for the Gath3r project to be successful. There must be a lot of traffic to make the project’s ecosystem success in long run. Is there any plans that you’re preparing?

We are constantly building partnerships which will allow Gath3r platform to headstart once in main net. Some of the already onboarded partners include the oldest newspaper of India -The Pioneer-, Bakarmax, TheDailyChain, Metalyfe browser and 150+ other publishers have already signed up on the Early Access Program

16) The Gath3r Project website says that revenue is based on the number of people who visit (traffic), not on the number of times they advertise. I don’t know what kind of revenue structure this is. Please explain it clearly and easily thank you.

Simply by hosting Gath3r’s code on your website or app for free, you can start earning money using your visitors’ resources based on their consent. Your visitors’ resources will be used to mine GTH and with merged mining, other child chains/relevant coins. So, the more visitors consent to share resources, the more publishers will be earning. It’s not like a banner which is showed once, it’s an alternate way to earn money which provides better user experience as the website can still earn money without showing ads.

17) The Gather project’s profits were generated in the form of selling users’ extra computer power, but users might be reluctant to use their computer power due to the possibility of personal information leakage. How do you solve these problems?

Gath3r’s code is not built for capturing personal data, We understand some users may not be willing to use this option, this is why Gath3r developed a fully consent based opt-in or opt-out functionality to allow freedom for users’ choice.

18) We are concerned that the computers of users who share computing power may slow down to the point where there is a lot of abnormality in their use. That would make it difficult for them to engage continuously. Is this technically resolved?

Yes, we have designed the system to ensure only a certain percentage of idle resources is used, this is to ensure that there are no long term adverse affects. We have also undergone stress testing to ensure that results were as expected

19) PC hardware is better than mobile, so I think it’s OK to share some computing resources. But mobile is something that people use every day these days, and even if it slows down a little, it will react sensitively. What and how would you resolve this problem?

For mobile, we just use less amount of power

20) I think it’s a good idea to provide computing power for donation. But I think security is the most important thing. If there were any security issues, it would be fatal, so shouldn’t I worry about the security issue when I’m using the Gath3r Project?

No you do not have to. Gath3r follows security best practices to ensure that your data is safe and the service is safe to use.

21) The concept of web mining without advertising is refreshing. I wonder what other big companies think about this. I know you were involved in a startup battle and Gath3r was interested by others. Please share how Gath3r performed in the startup battle and were there many investors interested in Gath3r project?

The startup battle unfortunately did not have strict entry requirements, and the winner was a company that has been around for 6 years and has already raised over $15 million. We did not win the battle, but we did connect with investors afterwords who were interested in the project, and with whom we have talked to since then and kept in contact with for equity raises.

22) I like the idea of sharing computing power and keeping it clean without advertising, but I think it’s only when you get someone to buy the resources you share, and you get to keep the Gath3r project economy on going. Why should people buy the computing-sharing power generated by the Gather Project?

It’s not only going on when compute power is sold, the resources are used in general to mine GTH and other coins with merged mining so there is a generated value of Proof of Work. What you mention is only the CPaaS (Compute Power as a Service) part of the platform where the compute power coming from network of publishers are being sold to big enterprises where Gath3r makes B2B partnerships (already 3 of them are on the pipeline). As these are big entities, they require huge amount of compute power, and as they look for lowering their costs compared to other centralized entities like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, they will be ready to buy and create enough demand for Gath3r network.

23) What are Gather’s ultimate goals and do you guys have other exchanges to be listed in Korea?

We would like to see a world where publishers are not depending on intrusive ads for revenue. We would like to see a world where publishers are incentivized to create quality content and not click bait content. This is what Gath3r aims for in the long run. Yes we have a few other exchange listings lined up.

24) Do you guys plan to get listed in major exchanges?

Yes we have a few other exchanges lined up.

25) Gath3r keeps the ecosystem by rewarding the use of the website. Is Web the same as Gath3r as big search engine like Naver?

I wonder if its run by one big company Gath3r is connecting different contents or running it with a concept like a community? Gath3r can be used on any website. It’s not just one page. Any website including Naver can add Gath3r’s smart code and start making additional money.

26) I want to know if you have any specific plans or partnerships with Korean companies.

We already have a partnership with Finple for providing resources for Dapps. We will surely be looking for establishing more partnerships with other Korean companies where relevant.

27) I would like to know the biggest difference between the existing Monetization and the strength and weakness of the Gath3r project.

The biggest difference compared to traditional digital ads is user experience. You can adapt Gath3r’s solution on your website and without using any disturbing banners/ads, you can still earn money. Of course it is not only limited to user experience; you can also activate loyalty programs and share your revenue with the users that are participating so that users can spend more time on your content. 28) What are the ultimate goals and schemes that the Gath3r Project aims to achieve?

29) I’m curious about Gather’s MVP and initial market entry strategy. Some potential customers are also curious about whether it will attempt to enter the market as a primary target, and who will be the influential early partners Gath3r can build with the MVP.

The Gath3r MVP is a simple MVP – you can try it as a publisher here: app.Gath3r.io, or as a user can see how it works here: www.blog.gath3r.io. For acquiring publishers, our market strategy looks to take advantage of currency volatility that exists in emerging markets. Since Advertising payouts are discriminatory, and pay less for traffic from India/Africa/China we would target publishers from there since they would make more money with Gath3r. on the enterprise sales side, we would initially target corporations that we deeply embed with so that we can keep iterating as needed. Once satisfied, the idea would be to target western markets, again to take advantage of currency fluctuations. Gath3r as a system does not discriminate against user location.

30) Tell us about Gath3r’s comparison and strengths to other competitors such as Brave and Osiris.

31) I understand that you are a developer of the website Monetization. What is the reason you issued the coin yourself?

We need a coin for multiple reasons
– one, to provide a way to for fees/gas when interacting with the blockchain or also known as anti spam measures and financial incentive.
– two, merged mining is only possible when our chains are being mined again we require anti spam and financial incentives to ensure the network stay fair.

32) I would like to know which exchanges you guys are listing

Currently we have multiple exchange listings in mind, both Regionally in Korea and externally, so that we are able to provide coverage to all our users

33) With games and payments, the most new areas of entry will be advertising. Explain Gath3r’s competitive advantage to beginners so that they can understand it please

34) I think Gath3r needs to promote themselves in order to be known to many people. Were you part of the startup battle event in Dubai? Please tell me what else you have in mind?

Yes, we were part of the Dubai startup event. We will be pushing more important partnerships to grow Gath3r’s network with new publishers and B2B partners. We believe these are also going to be meaningful for the blockchain ecosystem and mass adoption in general, letting the project’s name further known not just in blockchain but also outside of the cryptocurrency world.

35) I am impressed that revenue can be generated and serviced simply by user activities without advertising. I wonder what caused you to create these services.

I conceptualized the idea of Gath3r, when one of the startups I work with had problems with monetization. After doing research, I found Coinhive, but I knew in its native form it would never be accepted by Publishers. As such, I got the initial founders together and we tweaked the model to make more Publisher friendly.

36) 1. How does the power-selling setting adjust to the way consumers borrow their computing power?
2. It is very different compared to other projects by not using the advertising solution but if there are no users using this platform there will be no merit as well. Do you have a solution to keeping the user base productively?

1- The base idea is using the same processing power that provides revenue for publishers, aiming it towards resolving enterprise’s needs for data processing, without any other implication to either the publishers themselves, or their visitors. We name it CPaaS (Compute Power as a Service), in other words a win-win situation.
2- There are already 200 publishers registered in the early access program and this number is growing as well with the partnerships Gath3r is establishing for sites like newspapers, news/review sites, streaming sites. As the solution becomes more visible to companies and regular users, it will be getting spread as it can be used in addition to the banner advertising, not limiting the existing conditions so it can only add value. For the CPaaS (Compute Power as a Service) part of the platform where the compute power coming from network of publishers are being sold to big enterprises where Gath3r makes B2B partnerships (already 3 of them are on the pipeline). 37) 1. As the browser mining system is used, I am worried about overloading phone or computer for a long time. How much memory is used for mining?
2. There were various problems with the existing mining pools, and have these errors been verified by Gath3r? Such as hacking, conflicts with other programs, unwanted operation?
3. Total of 400 million Gath3r tokens are for mining. How much time do you expect to spend on 400 million mining by controlling difficulty and half-life? 4. Also, if the difficulty rises and the half-life progresses, the user will lose interest if their profits decrease due to reduced mining. Is there a separate system of compensation that can be supplemented?

1. The memory requirement is based on what your system can provide, and subsequently “work” would be assigned to your device.
2. We do not have any issues with Mining pools, after reaching a certain scale, Gath3r would be operating it’s on mining pools
3. The total 400M is the ERC-20 amount, post mainnet swap these tokens would be swapped at a 1-1 ratio. You can refer to our tokenomics document here to understand how block rewards are broken up: https://gath3r.io/uploads/Gather_Token_Economy.pdf – Halving is mentioned here, our difficulty also follows the D601 adjustment algorithm, and combined with mining pools would not be an issue when considering long term impacts of proof of work.
4. So if the difficulty keep rising, it would because more publishers are joining the Gath3r network. The more users we have, translates to token growth. So if the difficulty keeps rising we would see an increase in token price as well, which would ensure publisher earnings are stable. Additionally. Publishers can earn both Gath3r, USD and Altcoins, so their earnings are hedged. In the future there maybe additional ways to monetize as well, but it is too early to speak about those.

38) I’m curious about the future of the Gath3r Project. These days, many projects are considered as Scam in Coin market. (I mean not Gath3r but other startup coins) What are you thinking about to instill faith in investors?

Gath3r has been around for nearly 2 years at this point (since q1 of 2018), with team members and advisors being added regularly. New team members have been added as recently as a couple months ago. We aim to keep growing and expanding to make the long term goals a reality for Gath3r. To address the scam part, many projects sell all their tokens into the market to make quick money and exit. Gath3r’s team and founder’s tokens will take 2.5 years to unlock fully after listing on an exchange and require multi sig from 3 parties to distribute, making it impossible for any team member to just make some cash and exit the project. We have no intentions of ignoring investors in GTH tokens, and have many mechanisms in place to keep them involved with future success of the project such as using Gath3r’s revenue to buyback tokens from exchanges in the future and more.

39) Traditional mining was not efficient by utilizing a large number of facilities and energy in a single space. Gath3r is a mining method based on web mining technology and is much more efficient than traditional mining systems, so please explain more about mining methods.

Gath3r aims to build a network of thousands of publishers which will be letting millions of users participating to the network. By this way, as the digital advertising concept evolves and alternate solutions such as Gath3r get popular, these numbers will keep growing and therefore a healthy distributed and secure network will be achieved.

40) The difference from the existing mining methods is the efficiency of the web browser mining method I wonder if efficiency means that it’s not more systemically complex, or that we can mine as much as other mining methods.

Gath3r is designed to mine GTH coins only via web/app by using visitors’ resources, therefore regardless of efficiency, there will be fixed amount of coins being extracted per block by PoW either it’s 1 person/machine or many more. It’s not only GTH that is being mined, merged mining concept is proven and it allows other coins to be mined in addition to GTH which will be creating additional profit. Therefore, efficiency-wise Gath3r will be maximizing relevant hash algorithms.
